The presentation “Psychoacoustics-An Alternative Approach to Solving Office Noise” is based on our recent research into the psychological responses to sound stimulus of office workers. The presentation explores psychoacoustics in the workplace context. We will discuss means of distraction, factors affecting noise impact including performance and coping mechanisms and how different personalities are affected by sound. We conclude with practical applications and discussion. 

PAIGE HODSMAN: is the Concept Developer for Offices in the UK and Ireland for Saint-Gobain Ecophon. Paige co-authored the Acoustics Chapter: Ergonomic Workplace Design for Health Wellness and Productivity and the literature review Planning for Psychoacoustics: A Psychological Approach to Resolving Office Noise Distraction along with Dr. Nigel Oseland, Workplace Unlimited. She has a background in Office Design, Environmental Management and Acoustics. Her primary objective is to raise awareness within the A&D, property and workplace professions on the importance of good office acoustics for human health, well-being and performance.
