The Southern Branch of the IOA invites you to join us on the presentation of the ANC Guide to Acoustics, Ventilation and Overheating by David Trew from Bickerdike Allen Partners.
“Where residential developments rely on opening windows to mitigate overheating, there can be a compromise between allowing excessive noise ingress with windows open, or excessive temperatures with windows closed. This problem is exacerbated by the move towards better insulated, more airtight buildings and the need, particularly in urban areas, to consider development on noisier sites.
The ANC 'Guide to Acoustics, Ventilation and Overheating ('AVO' Guide') has been published for consultation. The AVO Guide recommends an integrated approach to acoustic assessments for new residential development that takes due regard of the interdependence of provisions for acoustics, ventilation, and overheating. This talk presents an overview of the guide together with some case studies of acoustically attenuated passive ventilation solutions. The Draft Guide can be downloaded following the link. Feedback on the draft is sought from all.”
The presentation will be followed by a discussion at a local curry house.
The event is free to members of the IoA, as well as to students and the public. As numbers are limited, to register for this event, please go to the registration page at:
