Cute, inspirational, heart-warming, companionship ……just some of the descriptors used for our canine family members! Dogs are a central part of our society and of family life in particular; there are currently 7.3 million dogs in the UK, with the East Midlands being the most popular region of dog ownership (around 14% of the UK total). Occasionally we may have to leave our beloved dog at home as we head for sunnier climes on our holidays! To this end, we often put them into Boarding kennels.
Boarding dog kennels have significantly grown in number over recent years in the U.K. in response to increasing pet ownership. Such premises bring a range of environmental impacts, including noise, to residential properties close by. This presentation will review the methods currently used by acoustic/environmental consultants in the assessment of kennel noise, what are the best noise indicators/criteria for rating this type of noise, and explore some of the control features that could make a difference at dog kennel establishments.
Refreshments will be available from 18:00. Free parking available at the University of Derby.
Attendance is free, no need to book, everyone welcome. CPD certificates can be provided. If you have any queries please contact carys.hill@aecom.com. As is traditional for IOA Midlands Branch meetings those attending are cordially invited for a meal at a suitable restaurant after the meeting.
