Adam Fox of Mason UK will be giving a talk about a project in Sweden, where helicopters landing on the roof of a new Swedish hospital would have caused undesirable structural vibration. The talk looks at the unusual vibration characteristics and how 2.0Hz isolators were engineered to work with the structure.

Attendance Certificates for CPD will be available.

Directions:

Colchester Institute’s Colchester Campus is within easy walking distance of both the railway station (Colchester Station) and the town centre. Walking from either location takes approximately 15 minutes.  The Meeting is being held in the Board Room, which is on the first floor, above the Institute’s Main Reception foyer.  The Board Room is directly opposite the first floor lifts.  The lifts are just to the right of the Reception Desk, as you enter the building.

Travelling by Car:

If travelling on the A12 via Chelmsford in a northerly direction, take the A133 exit sign-posted for Colchester Central. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Cymbeline Way (The Avenue of Remembrance) and at the next roundabout take the third exit onto Westway. At the next roundabout, take the fourth exit into Sheepen Road and Colchester Institute is on the left, beyond the retail park (including Matalan). 

If travelling south from the Ipswich direction on the A12, take the A1232 Colchester exit.  Go straight over the next  two roundabouts and down Ipswich Road to a further roundabout. Take the third exit onto Cowdray Avenue.  Go through the traffic lights, over one roundabout and at the second roundabout take the first exit onto Westway.  At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Sheepen Road, as above.

Enter the campus via the Central Gate, then proceed to the Institute’s Main Reception.

Evening parking at Colchester Institute is free of charge.  Please use the main car park, accessed via the Central Gate off Sheepen Road.
