Midlands Branch Evening Meeting
Temporary Theatres: Challenges and Expectations - presented by Helen Butcher
Thursday 27 April 2017: 18:00 for an 18:30 Start
Nyquist Theatre, The Arup Campus, Blythe Gate, Blythe Valley Park, Solihull, West Midlands, B90 8AE

The acoustic aims for a theatre space are well known and documented, leading to well established design strategies for room acoustic design, sound insulation and noise control.  For a temporary theatre, the expectations may be different depending on the physical environment of the theatre, but equally may be just as demanding as for a permanent venue.  More importantly, design drivers such as cost, programme and sustainability influence the acoustic design challenges and outcomes.
This talk case studies two very different temporary theatres.  The context is given for the expectation of the audience and the demands of the theatre companies.  The particular acoustic design challenges are explained and the design solutions and outcomes for the theatres presented.

Attendance is free, no need to book, everyone welcome.  CPD certificates will be provided.  If you have any queries please contact young.youn@arup.com.

As is traditional for IOA Midlands Branch meetings those attending are cordially invited for a meal at a local Indian restaurant after the meeting. Please let Young know if you would like to come, so we can book a table.
